|Blackdown Hills Transition Group|
All the current members of Blackdown Hills Transition Group live and work in the Blackdown Hills and are committed to working towards a community based response to the challenges posed by oil depletion, decreasing dependence on fossil fuels and Climate Change.
Unlike Transition Towns (Stroud and Totnes) the group is unable to focus on a definable town as the Hills are made up of many villages with loyal communities. Consequently the group has traditionally seen its role as being a hub for information and support to local communities to help them consider how to be increasingly self-sustaining as is practical in our modern age.

|Taunton Green Parents|
Taunton Green Parents was initially set up as a virtual community designed to help inspire, support and motivate local families to live in a more sustainable way. The recent IPCC report on the current climate projections gave us a stark insight into the challenges we face. If we are to limit global warming to 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels, as stated by the report, we will require urgent and dramatic action from both governments and individuals. It was this realisation about the implications for future generations and in particular our children’s future, which drove us to establish the group.
Whilst the scale of the climate change problem may seem at times insurmountable, we believe that there are many things that we as individuals and communities can do to make a positive difference. Firstly, we can make changes to our consumer habits and lifestyle practises. This is the focus of this ‘Taunton Green Parents’ group page which offers a friendly and non-judgemental platform for members to share their knowledge and expertise, to ask for advice and to provide mutual support.
Secondly, we can work together to ensure that our collective voice is heard. Following the success of the original group we set up the ‘Taunton Green Parents Activism Hub.’ This group aims to provide a platform for exploring ideas about how we can come together in action. This includes lobbying the government, community environmental projects, organising speakers on environmental issues and developing relationships with other environmental groups in the area.
We are non-party political, and we seek to speak with a voice which crosses various political divides. We are stronger together. Please come and join us on Facebook or for further information please get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org
