I have nothing but admiration for the many parishioners who organise the likes of the Street Fair and Harvest Home year after year. Plans for the Wedmore Green Fair on May 16th are well in hand but the amount of work and stress involved is something else! But everything is coming together well and the day is shaping up to be a memorable one.
These are such difficult times for many, but village events such as the Green Fair give everyone in the community a chance to get together and help to build those relationships which help us all get through. So what is going on?
Well the fair is from 10am until 4pm in the Village Hall. There is going to be a huge range of stalls. Amongst the people taking part are the Environment Agency (to find out what their plans are for the levels), Solar Sense (how practical is solar energy), Eco Exmoor, the Eco-Friendly Store, Wedmore First School (talking about the greening of the school and selling some trees), Somerset Local Food Direct (explaining their veg boxes), Wedmore In Bloom, the Community Bus and a special exhibition from Navitron showing solar energy in action. The plastic bag ladies will have more workshops for the kids, we are planning a mini-cinema showing some fascinating short movies as well as tea and cake! Please do come along and have a browse not forgetting to visit the Wedmore Green Group stand for a chat. We promise there will be no preaching, no green-bashing, no eco guilt-trip, just information, advice, help and a cracking cup of tea. The day event is free.
Not content with that we are throwing a party in the evening with a bar, local food and the fantastic band ‘Seize the Day’, again in the Village Hall from 8pm. This is a band for young and old who never fail to get an audience up and about. The evening event is ticket only but they are only £8 each in advance and available from The Paper Shop; be sure to snap them up as they will sell quickly.
I hope to see you all on the 16th J
