Youth Climate Council

We are happy to announce that a small number of young folk in Somerset have stepped forward to be a part of the first Somerset Youth Climate Action Network.  They are ready and willing to engage with active democracy in order to voice their concerns.  Their first action has been to invite all of the newly elected county councillors and the Somerset MPs to attend an online conference to hear their concerns about the climate and ecological emergency.

The conference took place online on Tuesday May 24th at 6PM

There were so many related areas of concern to discuss in such a short space of time but the young people involved wisely decided that there is a common theme – Health & Wellbeing, which brings all of these concerns together.  Indeed the World Health Organisation has stated that climate change is the biggest health threat facing humanity.

Get Involved

We would like to invite all young people who are passionate about mitigating the effects climate change to get in touch at The Somerset Youth Climate Council is not going away and are ready for action.

Health & Wellbeing is an integral part of community.  When this is taken into consideration, climate adaptation can be far more effective.

We hope that when our newly elected county councillors listen to Somerset’s young people speak about their concerns with their own voices, they will be galvanised to create positive change.
